Celebrate Term 3 with your students

Maths Pathway’s top four ways to celebrate the end of Term 3.

It’s been a big term full of achievements, challenges and celebrations, so the best way to finish off is with some fun games for you and your class.

We’ve curated a list of four end of year celebrations you can arrange for your class.

Games

Games are a quick and easy way to wind down at the end of the year. These are some of our favourites to play with students.

Pictionary

This one is fun for the whole class to play together or in smaller groups. Simply share a word with one student and have them draw the word on the whiteboard using only illustrations (no words or symbols). The whole class can guess or split up into teams to make it a little more competitive.

Bingo

Bingo is also super easy to set up! Get your students to draw a 5×5 grid and fill it with numbers from 1-50. You can easily make this one maths related by asking quick mental maths questions that have an answer between 1-50.

Trivia

At this point in the year no one is a stranger to trivia and there’s a reason it’s so popular! Trivia can have customised rounds, take up as much or as little time as you like, and there can be prizes up for grabs (budget dependant).

Adventures

These adventurous activities can take a little bit more planning but believe us they’re worth it.

Scavenger Hunt

What’s not to love about scavenger hunts? They’re tonnes of fun for students of all ages and can be played in the classroom or outside in the sunshine! Simply write a list of items you want your class to find. These can either be found in school or be items in your student’s houses that they can hunt for.

Class Escape Room

For something a little bit different, we love a class escape room! They work exactly like other escape rooms do. If you’re not familiar with escape rooms, the idea is that your class has to solve puzzles and riddles to be able to escape a room in a given time.

Themed Class Party

There are so many themes to choose from when throwing a class party. From Disney to Harry Potter, Animals to Rock Stars the options are endless!

Celebrations

These are fantastic ways to celebrate your students’ successes from the year.

Advent Calendar

This works much like a traditional advent calendar with a new door being opened each day in the run-up to the last day of term. Inside each advent door, there can be small treats, gifts, or awards. Each student gets one present and this can be done in roll call order.

Student Awards

These can be an excellent way to make light of a crazy year. Was one student constantly having trouble with their internet? Did another always forget their notebook? These little hiccups throughout the year can be turned into awards for your students!

Exam Packs

Budget dependent these can be a great little way to send off your year 12s, or any year, heading into exam season. Packs can contain items such as pens, pencils, lollies and good luck cards.

Reflections

These activities help your students look back on 2024 and reflect on the happy moments.

Letter To Your Future Self

This one is pretty self-explanatory but we think it’s the perfect way for your students to remember 2024 for what it was – the bad and the good! Plus they’re always a good laugh to re-read in the future.

Good News Only

Did your students learn a new hobby? Do they have a greater appreciation for playing outside? Although many things were put on hold this year, this is a fantastic activity to call out all the good news from the year.

Summer Bucket Lists

Give your students something to look forward to with a Summer Bucket List. These can be as extravagant or simple as your students like. We recommend including at least a few items that can go ahead even virtually, just in case.
