Overview
SCOTS PGC College partnered with Maths Pathway in 2017 to provide individualised learning tailored to each student’s needs. This differentiated approach has supported both consolidation and academic excellence across the student cohort. Building on the work of Steinbergs & Smith (2024), which found links between Maths Pathway usage and student growth in a Victorian school, this analysis investigates whether similar outcomes are evident at SCOTS PGC College.
Key findings
After the in-depth investigation into the effect of Maths Pathway on student progress and analysis of key data points, researchers found:

Students achieved an average of 1.60 years’ growth per year in PAT Maths assessments.

Students who completed at least 52 Maths Pathway modules annually outperformed their peers.

The findings align with previous research showing a strong relationship between Maths Pathway usage and improved maths achievement.

Setting a clear, evidence-based module completion target can help schools improve student outcomes in mathematics.
