Frequently Asked Questions
Why so many meetings? Why can’t we just book one big day in advance?
With teachers generally being busy and stressed, there isn’t a lot of mental bandwidth available for learning new things. Much like with our students, the worst thing we can do to teachers is overload them with too much information and create a sense of overwhelm. Plus, there is important information that won’t be immediately relevant until later on down the road, meaning it will likely be forgotten and require reminders when the time is right anyway, meaning you’re double handling the induction. It’s a much more pleasant and practical experience to provide the right information to the right people at the right time.
Why are there meetings with leadership as well?
Changing the way maths is taught and learned at your school means that leadership needs to understand and endorse the approach that is being taken. There are implications for supporting staff in the change, communicating with parents and carers, determining how reporting is undertaken and meeting auditing requirements. Schools also typically want to be able to review the impact on student experiences and outcomes so need to be familiar with what is happening in the classroom in order to be able to do this in a meaningful way.
Is there flexibility with the timings?
There are a number of session times available for you to book but if there are no suitable times for you please contact us to make arrangements with you.
How do we access these meetings?
These meetings will be held over Zoom. You will receive a link to the virtual meeting room when you register for the event. These are designed to be interactive events so please prepare to attend with your cameras on and a functioning microphone.
Is there any cost involved?
There is no additional cost for attendance at these events. The opportunity to attend these events is included as part of the licence fees the schools pay.
These events will not be recorded but significant portions of the content will be available to teachers who are unable to attend the faculty events in the Professional Development videos in the Teacher Portal. We would encourage you to take notes on the matters of greatest interest to you so you can share them with colleagues if they are unable to attend.
